Well, what to say, Stocks were sinking (again) as investors await the outcome of the Federal Reserve’s two-day meeting, which started today.

And how is this related to #uranium?

It's not!

People need electricity, power plants need material, no matter what is the interest rate.

Never mind, our day will come and I believe it is very close.

Until then enjoy my blog.📝

📝 NuScale in talks with the Philippines on #SMR deployment

US small modular reactor (SMR) developer NuScale Power is interested in investing in the Philippines, the country's President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos said during a five-day visit to the USA. He said NuScale plans to conduct a siting study in the Philippines.

A meeting with NuScale was held in Washington, DC, on 1 May attended on the Philippine side by President Marcos, Trade Secretary Alfredo Pascual, Energy Secretary Raphael Lotilla, Special Assistant to the President Secretary Antonio Lagdameo, Communications Secretary Cheloy Garafil and Philippine Ambassador to the USA Jose Manuel Romualdez. Among the NuScale officials present were Clayton Scott, executive vice president for business, and Cheryl Collins, director for sales. NuScale was accompanied by Filipino partner Enrique Razon, representing Prime Infrastructure Capital Inc.

The meeting followed initial discussions held in September last year in New York on the sidelines of Marcos's participation at the United Nations General Assembly.

According to a statement from the President's office, NuScale is "expected to invest USD6.5-7.5 billion to provide 430 MWe to the country by 2031".

📝 Indian companies sign agreement for #nuclear plant construction

The supplementary joint venture agreement between NTPC - the country's largest integrated energy company - and government enterprise Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL) is for the development of six 700 MWe pressurised heavy water reactors (PHWRs) across two sites.

The agreement was signed in New Delhi on 1 May (Image: Ministry of Power and NTPC)

The joint venture company will "initially" develop two 700 MWe PHWRs at Chutka in Madhya Pradesh and four at Mahi Banswara in Rajasthan. These are amongst a list of ten PHWR reactors that have already been accorded administrative approval and financial sanction to be built in "fleet mode".

Minister of Power and New & Renewable Energy RK Singh was one of the dignitaries who witnessed the signing of the agreement in New Delhi. "Signing of this joint venture is a move towards augmenting our nuclear power capacity. India has come of age. The power demand of the country is growing rapidly and we need to increase our generation capacity in tandem with the demand. Since we are transitioning, we need to add more green energy and this venture will help as achieve the same," he said.

📝 Test assembly completed for Bolivia's research reactor

The process of assembling the research reactor was reproduced at the manufacturing site in #Russia ahead of it being shipped to #Bolivia.

The pool-type 200 kW pressurised water research reactor, developed by Russia's Research Institute of Atomic Reactors, is designed to have a service life of 50 years.

During the test, the assembly process of the main equipment was reproduced, including the installation of reflector blocks, mock-ups and simulators of fuel assemblies, plus control and protection elements as well as kit to ensure quality control of the manufactured elements.

To mark the manufacturer's test assembly of the reactor, a ceremony was held, attended by representatives of Rosatom and the government of the Ulyanovsk region, Bolivian ambassador Maria Luisa Ramos Ursagaste and, via videolink, Jerges Mercado Suárez, President of the Chamber of Deputies in Bolivia's National Congress.

The research reactor is part of a Russian-Bolivian project to create a nuclear research and technology centre at El Alto, at an altitude of 4500 metres. The Cyclotron Preclinical Radiopharmacy Complex is already up and running, and will produce a line of pharmaceuticals to provide the necessary supplies for the network of Bolivian nuclear medicine centres, intended to allow Bolivians to get quicker and higher quality diagnosis and treatment without having to travel abroad.

COMPANY NEWS

📝 Uranium Energy Files S-K 1300 Technical Report Summary for Roughrider Project in Saskatchewan, Canada

Total Roughrider Project resources are 27.8 million lbs. U3O8 in 389,000 tonnes grading 3.25% U3O8 in the Indicated category and 36.0 million lbs. U3O8 in 359,000 tonnes grading 4.55% U3O8 in the Inferred category .

Following the acquisition of the Roughrider Project in 2012, Rio Tinto completed additional delineation and geotechnical drilling during 2012 through 2016, further delineating the Far East Zone and increasing the confidence level of the resources. This new TRS resource is based on 665 diamond drillholes completed to date by Hathor Exploration Limited ("Hathor") and Rio Tinto for a total of approximately 228,180 meters of drilling on the Project.

For consistency in approach and to leverage existing technical knowledge of the Project, UEC has completed this TRS resource report with the team at SRK Consulting, building on their excellent technical knowledge and experience with the Project. Most of the gain in indicated resources comes from the Far East Zone that was not previously disclosed by Hathor.

The next steps for the Project by UEC will be to commission an Initial Assessment economic study and complete further delineation drilling to upgrade the current inferred resources to indicated.

The Project has access to all-weather roads and power infrastructure. There is an airport accessible to the public at Points North Landing 6 km from the deposit area.

UEC's attributed resources now total 226.2 million pounds U3O8 in the Measured and Indicated Categories and 102.7 million pounds U3O8 in the Inferred category across all its projects (1), cementing UEC's status as one of the largest diversified North American focused uranium companies.

📝 Baselode Prepares for 10,000 Metre Drill Program at ACKIO High-Grade Uranium Zone, Hook Project

Baselode Energy provided an update for the diamond drilling program (the "Program") scheduled to start in June for the ACKIO high-grade uranium zone and the Hook project.

A total of 10,000 metres of diamond drilling are planned for Hook this summer. The breakdown includes 7,500 metres allocated to delineation and expansion diamond drilling on ACKIO, and 2,500 metres partitioned in three to five areas for reconnaissance exploration aimed at discovering the next uranium zone on Hook. The ACKIO delineation and expansion part of the Program will first focus on the shallowest and/or the highest-grade uranium intersections defined in last years successful 22,500 metre drill campaign. Drill collars have been planned to optimize the allocated metres by intersecting multiple zones of mineralization from the same setups, and by limiting drill holes to specific stopping depths. The drill program is anticipated to start in June, with logistical planning and site preparation visits already being organized.
